Saw Splitters
Splitters are used to improve precision and safety while
using your table
saw. They are located behind the saw blade. Splitters reduce the chances of
kickbacks in two ways, firstly by preventing the material that you are cutting
from being rotated, and secondly by reducing pinching while you are using you
saw for ripping. Splitters are also available with to small wings that hold
the wood from being thrown backwards in case of kickback.
Splitters come in a lot of different forms, as well as being built right
into the blade guard that comes with the table saw. An alternative kind of
splitter is merely a vertical fin connected to the insert. You can purchase
splitters or you make your own out of metal, plastic or wood.
