Saw Inserts
Safety:
Make sure that saw is unplugged when you are working
near the saws blade.
It should only be connected to its power source when you are using it.
Otherwise, it should remain unplugged.
A properly installed zero clearance insert eliminates the gap around the
blade found on the majority inserts that come with table saws. Removing the
gap stops smaller pieces that are cut off from slipping down in between the
insert and blade, and becoming jammed between the two and being ejected. The
exact fit of the insert also lessens the quantity of sawdust that is ejected
above the table. Zero clearance inserts are made of a material that can be
sawed through like wood or plastic. When a zero clearance insert is first
placed into position, the blade is raised through the insert cutting a slot.
This produces a slot with no gap around the blade.
Another insert that can be purchased or made is a dado insert.
