Saw Crosscut Sled
To secure a piece of wood at a set 90-degree angle to
the saw blade a
crosscut sled is normally used. This will give you an exact cut repeatedly.
The crosscut sled is guided by a runner secured beneath it, and is set into
the miter slot.
The best-crosscut sled for you depends on the kind of crosscutting work you
intend to do. You can make your own or purchase one. If you use your table,
saw as a crosscutting tool mainly for 90-degree cuts then a home made one
might be satisfactory, but if you are going to do any complex joinery
operations involving precision cuts you should consider purchasing a crosscut
sled.
