Table Saws Site Map:

Because of its versatility, a table saw is one of the more common power tools for woodworking projects. Frequently a table saw is the only sizeable woodworking tool that a person will own. The table saw is made up of a round saw blade that is fitted onto an arbor and is run by a powerful electric motor. The table saw’s blade sticks out of the surface of the table, which supports the wood that is being cut.

With today’s table saws, adjusting the blade either up or down varies the depth of your cut. The more you raise the blade above the table’s surface, the deeper you will cut into your wood. By turning, a handle on your table saw you could change the blade’s angle, so that it cuts at the angle you want it to. In a number of older table saws, the arbor and blade are fixed, the table is adjusted up or down, and not the blade to adjust the cutting depth, and you move the table to the cutting angle that you want to cut at.

There are four types of table saws: contractors, bench top, hybrid, and cabinet.

Benchtop Table Saw

Benchtop saws are intended to function while resting firmly on a tabletop or other type of support.

Cabinet Table Saw

To keep vibration to a minimum and improve accuracy cabinet table saws are heavier.

Contractors Table Saw

Contractor table saws are larger and much heavier, and come with an attached base, or stand.

Hybrid Table Saw
Hybrid table saws are intended to compete with top of the line contractor table saws.

Table Saw Accessories

Aftermarket miter gauges are far more accurate for cutting angles then the standard miter gauges that comes with most table saws.

Table Saw Rip Fence
One of the main function of a table saw is its ability to rip wood.

Table Saw Splitters

Splitters are used to improve precision and safety while using your table saw.

Table Saw Tenon Jig
A tenon jig is a tool that holds your wood in a vertical position so that you can make cuts across the end of your wood stock.
