Apartment Inspection
If you are looking for an apartment there are a few things you
should check out before signing the lease.
Apartment Check List:
Check the entrance. Does the door close properly and does the lock work?
Check the floors for cracked or chipped tiles and the floors for burn marks in
the vinyl or carpets. Are the carpets clean and in good condition?
Check the walls and ceilings for cracks, holes and dents. Is the wallpaper
or paint clean and in good repair?
Check all the lights and electrical outlets and appliances. Are they
working and are they clean. Does the air conditioner, ceiling fan work?
Are there phone jacks in every room and do you have a cable connection box?
Check for leaking faucets, good water pressure. Refrigerator works good and
not making too much noise. Is the freezer cold? Check out the other appliances
such as a dishwasher or microwave and make sure they are working.
Check the toilet to make sure it is working fine and flushes fine. Again
check for leaking faucets.
Check for smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors and make sure they
are in working condition. check all the windows for cracks and make sure all
the locks on them work.
Once you have done this make a copy for yourself and give the landlord a
copy. You will want to make sure he agrees to have these fixed before you sign
your lease or move in.
