Make
Your Own Decorative Paint Rollers
Bring your walls to life with these easy
to make, decorative paint rollers. Add visual appeal and depth to your walls.
Specialty
rollers are popular, but they are costly to purchase. You can create your own
with an inexpensive glue gun and some creativity. Then add some charm to your
walls. It will not be long until people are asking did you do that by
yourself.
Let your imagination go wild. Try creating a patterned roller from rubber
bands, caulking, sponges, steel wool, Curly Kates, plastic bags, or felt to
create great effects.
How To
create A 2.5" x 2.5" Specialty Roller
Cut approximately 75 to 100,
two and a half inch square bits of six-mil plastic with round corners.
Glue each separate square in the center with a glue gun. Place plastic
squares onto your roller with a lead pencil. Let the glue dry for at
least 48 hours before you use it.
Step
1
Apply a base coat and allow
it to dry for 48 hours.
Step 2
Mix
equal amounts of top coat and paint glaze. Apply the mix to the wall.
Paint glaze blend no wider than 3' to 4'' at one time.
Step 3
Roll
your patterned specialty roller on top of the wet paint mix at random. The
longer you roll, the more understated the effect will be. Manage corners and
little areas as you go along. Repeat this procedure to finish the room.
How To
Create Your Own Fringed Roller
Using five bits
of six mil plastic that measurers five by nine and one half inches cut
a two inch deep fringe on each part of the plastic along the long the
sides. This will leave you a one-inch strip in the center. Glue all
pieces along the one-inch strip and put on the roller. Allow the glue
to set for at least 48 hours before you use it.
How To Make A Bag Roller
Using
two plastic shopping bags, turned inside out, so that the printing on
the bag is on the inside. Place the ends of the bags into the end of
your roller. Whilst holding the bags in place, slide the roller cage
(handle) into your roller sleeve. Twist the bags around your roller;
allow some of your roller to be visible. Hold the bags in place at the
opposite ends of your roller with an elastic band.
