Sodding
Your Yard - Sod is a lot more costly than seeding, but it does give you an
immediate lawn.
Get the area ready as if you
were seeding. Get sod that is three-quarters to an inch in thickness. Check the
sod, by holding up a piece by the end. If the sod is of good quality, it will
stay together.
Begin by laying down the sod
in a long straight line. Lay down the sod so the seams from one row fall in the
middle of the seams of the next row. Fit the pieces of sod firmly together, to
aid in the edges growing together.
Cut your sod with a
razor-sharp utility knife to fit corners. Stay away from using small pieces of
sod, because they will dry out rapidly.
Roll the sod with a water
roller this will insure that the sod makes proper contact with the ground. Water
the sod; keep it continually moist, for a minimum of ten days
