Planting Lawn Plugs and Sprigs - Sprigs and plugs are little pieces of healthy grass. Sprigs and plugs are planted and spaced apart to grow crossways to form a complete lawn.

Sprigs and plugs are usually used in warmer areas of the country. Sprigs and plugs are used most often with hybrid St. Augustine, Bermudas, or Zoysia grasses.

Plant sprigs or plugs in your soil about every six to twelve inches. Let the leafy parts get sunlight. Pack the soil firmly around the roots.

Water right after plant sprigs or plugs so the soil is wet down to the roots. A half-inch of water every second day is usually sufficient to keep the roots moist for excellent growth. Inside three to four weeks, you should have a decent cover.
