Cleaning Your Shower Curtains And Bath Mats

Both shower curtains and bath mats are subject to mold and mildew just like tubs and damp enclosures. Luckily, it takes less effort to clean shower curtains and bath mats than it does tile grout. The following will help make this task easier.

Hand washing is best way to go about cleaning plastic shower curtains, because hand washing reduces the amount of wrinkles to your curtains.

To avoid wrinkling due to machine-washing shower curtains place them in your washing machine with a half a cup of soap detergent and a half of a cup of baking soda, along with two huge bath towels. Add one cup of vinegar to the rinse cycle: hang your shower curtains up right after you wash them, and let the air dry them.

When you clean a plastic shower curtain, you can keep it soft and flexible by adding a couple of drops of mineral oil to your rinse water. You can retain its softness by wiping it down now and then with a mixture of mineral oil and warm water.

You can keep your shower curtain looking new by using an older shower curtain as a liner. Hang your new shower curtain in front of your old curtain on the same hooks. The old curtain will prevent the new curtains from taking a beating from soap scum and water while the new curtains remain clean.

To get rid of mildew spray your newly washed shower curtains with a mild disinfectant.

Clean a vinyl or rubber bathtub mat by placing it into your washing machine with some bath towels. The terry cloth towels scrubs the bathtub mat clean.
