Cleaning Countertops And Basins

Bathroom countertops get covered with just about anything you can think of. In the majority of homes, countertops are made up of materials like, cultured marble, plastic laminate, and ceramic tile. Since these materials are strong, they are simple to clean.

Cultured Marble

Cultured marble looks like genuine marble, but it is much simpler to take care of. Do not use steel-wool pads or abrasive cleaners; since they tend to scratch the surface of your countertop, and this will make keeping it clean difficult.

Plastic Laminate

Plastic laminate countertops are extremely durable if you do not abuse them. Plastic laminate countertops do have their limitations. They are made up of thin layers of plastic place over craft paper and overlaid on plywood or particleboard. With most plastic laminates, the color is only in the top layer. The surface is also laid on, that is why plastic laminate countertops cannot be repaid if it is damaged. Applying a light layer of furniture wax will brighten and protect your plastic laminate countertop.

Use a scrubbing pad with a sponge on one side and fiber on the other side to clean plastic laminate countertops. Dampen the scrubbing pad with a little water; the fiber side of the pad is abrasive enough to remove messy smears and other types of dirt. Turn the pad over, and use the side with the sponge on it to wipe the countertop dry.
