Bedding
All of your bedding should be cleaned on a recurring basis. The secret to
successfully cleaning
your bedding is to do it previous to the soil getting
heavy, and to know the fabrics involved so that you use the proper cleaning
methods. Follow the manufacturers care labels and their instructions when you

Bedspreads
Bedspreads are made out of a variety of different types of fabric; the

they become heavily soiled. Treat stains and spots with a spray on prewash
liquid detergent. Before you begin cleaning your bedspread you should check
for colorfastness by placing a corner of your bedspread into the detergent
solution. If the colors on your bedspreads bleed, you should have it
dry-cleaned.
For oversized bedspreads, use a commercial washer. Do not overcrowded your
washing machine, because an overcrowded washing machine will not clean your
bedspreads very well, and the weight of a wet bedspread can damage your
washing machine.
Dry bedspreads on a clothesline or in a large commercial dryer.

Even though blankets are made out of various blends of fibers, the majority
of blankets can be washed by hand or in a washing machine.
You should vacuum your blankets from time to time to remove and lint or
dust.
Hang your blankets on a clothesline every so often to air them out; this
will keep them smelling fresh.
Prior to washing a blanket, replace or repair bindings and treat stains and
spots with a prewash detergent.
Wash large blankets in a commercial washer. Fill the washer with water and
add the detergent allow the detergent to totally dissolve before you put your
blanket in the washer. Use a delicate or gentle cleaning cycle. Extended
periods of agitation will mat your blankets fibers. To thoroughly clean your
blankets do not overcrowding the washing machine.
A fabric softener will increase a blanket's fluffiness and reduce static
electricity.
You should never dry-clean an electric blanket, because the cleaning
solvents used in dry-cleaning can harm the wiring. Electric blankets should be
washed by hand. Mothproofing can also damage the wiring.
